Will You Be Joining Us For the First Time?
 
Please register (see below) to receive a first timers 'pumper' or 'potential pumper' gift bag.  Quantities are limited and items include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Cooking Up Fun for Kids With Diabetes (194 pgs)
  • Beach/Bath Towel
  • Other Surprises

Time: 1:00-3:40pm.
 
Where:  Nantucket Room, Dartmouth Sportsplex,  Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
 
What about?:  Hot Topic is Carbohydrate Counting -  We are excited to welcome Cindy Keith, CDE from the Diabetes Management Centre at the QEII as our guest speaker!  Cindy uses a very hands on method of teaching and will take us from the basics of carb counting to advanced.  If you or your child has diabetes, pumper or not, you don't want to miss this! 
 
1:00-1:15pm:  Welcome
1:15-1:30pm:  Overview of Pump therapy
1:30-2:30pm:  Carbohydrate Counting (Beginner and Advanced)
2:30-3:00:  Refreshments & Introductions
3:00-3:40:  Discussion and handouts on various topics.
 
Registration:  Not a requirement BUT it is much appreciated so we know how many photocopies, samples, prizes, etc. we will need.  Please  contact barbchafe@ns.sympatico.ca or call Barb Chafe at 902-223-7867
 
Who can come? - Anyone!  If you or a loved one has diabetes and you are interested in finding out more about insulin pump therapy, or you are presently pumping and want to connect and learn more from other pumpers, then this is the place for you!  Bring along a friend for moral support :)
 
Membership:  You need not be a member of Insulin Pumpers Canada to attend our events.  However, if you wish to be added to our database and receive information on upcoming events, our newsletter, or be a volunteer with IPC you can fill in a membership form at the meeting. Currently there is no charge to be a member.
 
Cost: We are asking for a minimum donation of $2 per person (only if you can afford it) to go towards the rental of the room.  Please appreciate the effort and cost associated with preparing for and presenting these meetings to the public. Remember, we are your peers and are all volunteers.  We fundraise to pay the costs associated with running IPC.
