**Insulin Pumpers Nova Scotia

The next meeting of Insulin Pumpers Nova Scotia will be
Sunday, January 27th, 2002
LDRA Room, Sackville Sport Stadium
409 Glendale Drive, Lower Sackville
From 1:00pm-4:00pm
For more information, call Barb chafe at (902)865-9129, email dchafe@ns.sympatico.ca

**In the future, our pumpers group will be referred to as Insulin Pumpers Nova Scotia with the blessing of Michael Robinton, Executive director of the internationally known and respected organization Insulin Pumpers http://www.insulin-pumpers.org
I don't suggest that we are now, or will ever be, such a respected institution, but I thank Michael for the vote of confidence that we are pursuing the same goals as the IP mission statement outlines.http://www.insulin-pumpers.org/non-profit.shtml
What an honor it is to be affiliated with such a wonderful group. In our own small way we can make a difference one person at a time. Without the support of Insulin Pumpers when we started our quest 5 years ago, it is quite possible that Erica would not be pumping.

Shelly Tyler's Recent Victory Over The Tax Guys - Canadian

Recently, a cyber friend of mine was successful in a tax battle for the 'Disability Tax Credit' here in Canada. Shelly's mission is now to inform people that it can be done. If you would like more information, it can be seen at:

Does your diabetic specialist support pumping?

Are you fortunate enough to have a medical professional and/or clinic that supports you and your pump? There are adults in Nova Scotia who are finding it difficult to find such support. If your medical professional is willing to be added to a list of pro-pump clinics/doctors/cdes, please forward their name and a contact number to Barb Chafe email dchafe@ns.sympatico.ca

Minimed And Roche Are Sponsoring A Special Afternoon

Here is a *heads up* for diabetic children and their families. In early March, 2002, Minimed and Roche are sponsoring a special time at the Imax Theatre in Bayers Lake, Halifax. Registration will be required as there are limited spaces. There will be guest speakers and lots of fun for the kids.
As I receive more information on this special event, I will post it on the website.
***PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS FOR ALL FAMILIES, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A PUMPER TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS FUN DAY.

Minimed Is Having A Special Day In New Brunswick Too

In early February (date and time to be confirmed) Minimed is sponsoring a session for Pumpers and people interested in Pump Therapy. It will be held at the Crystal Palace in Moncton. Again, this is a *heads up* and more information will be posted as I receive it :)
**THIS EVENT IS DIRECTED TO PEOPLE WHO ARE PUMPING OR WHO ARE INTERESTED IN PUMP THERAPY FOR THEMSELVES OR THEIR CHILD.

This Looks Interesting

Here is some information for people who are finding it difficult to test multiple times per day due to the cost of strips. Wal-Mart introduces the 'ReliOn Monitor'. Unfortunately, at this time I can't find a Wal-Mart which is selling this in Canada. What does that mean?? Well, it means that you have to request to your local Wal-Mart pharmacy that they bring it north of the border :)
Check the link below for more information and an evaluation from the Children With Diabetes website.
